POSIX standards for fault management in a real-time environment

Describes the Portable Operating System Interface (POSIX) standards, specifically the application programming interface (API) standards for fault management for use in a real-time environment. This work is being performed by the Services for Reliable, Available and Serviceable Systems (SRASS) Working Group. This work is a POSIX standards effort in the P1003.1 System Services group project P1003.1h. This standard is intended to be used to provide fault management and serviceability application programs with a common C language binding interface to operating system services. This standard is being developed using common and/or existing practices within industry and academia to provide a useful set of fault management and serviceability APIs to benefit all. The working group is comprised of a balanced participation of users, vendors and those with a general interest. All APIs are developed by using the consensus process, and this work is intended to receive a through review in an open ballot process to insure that implementations can be built to conform to the standard.
