A dissipativity framework for power system stabilizer design

The purpose of this paper is to describe a dissipativity-based analytical framework for the study of low-frequency oscillations in power systems. This approach leads to a robust controller design formulation that can be solved using either an H/sub /spl infin// or a quantitative feedback theory (QFT) synthesis procedure. The two approaches are presented and a design example using the QFT approach is carried out on a two area four machine power system example widely used in the literature.
