The converging flows protocol: design and analysis using SDL

This paper demonstrates the use of Specification and Description Language (SDL) to design the converging flows protocol (CFP). The converging flows problem arises when several sources transmit simultaneously to a destination and the sum of all the flows is greater than the processing rate of the destination. The CFP is designed to throttle the sources to ensure that buffers at a destination do not overflow, and allocate resources fairly to all sources in accordance with their needs.
