Analysis of monopole antennas for UWB systems with circular ring patch and parasitic element

This work presents a characterization of a new monopole circular microstrip patch antenna with a conducting patch in the circular ring form for use in UWB systems. The influence of inserting both a rectangular slit in the ground plane and a parasitic element close to the circular conducting patch of the structure is investigated in order to improve the antenna impedance matching, for UWB applications. software is the simulation tool used to obtain numerical results for the return loss frequency behavior of the considered antenna. These results are compared to the measured ones obtained using a network analyzer.
