Laser induced formation of adherent interfaces

In this paper the author reports a novel laser-based method to increase the adherence of coatings on high thermal expansion mismatched substrates. This method is based on on morphological modification of the substrate, which results in the creation of a three-dimensional thermal and composition graded interface.
