Large room temperature magneto-optical Kerr effect in magnetic materials

Recently investigated magneto-optic materials exhibit large magneto-optic Kerr rotation at low temperatures. Current research focuses on materials that have a large magneto-optic Kerr rotation at room temperatures in order to be viable recording media in the future. The present paper introduces a quick and reliable method to investigate the magneto-optical pure metals (Fe, Ni, Co) and arsenic doped CuCr/sub 2/Se/sub 4/ and reports the results in the 1.84 eV to 2.54 eV (671.4 nm to 188 nm wavelength) range.
