Feasibility Study of CO2 Injection Development to Enhance Oil Recovery

Because the casing damage was very serious and water injection became difficult in Sa I group of Lamadian oil field, it was required to adopt new oil recovery technology for further development. The petroleum industry uses CO2 for enhanced oil recovery (EOR) for many years now, It can mitigate climate change and reduce atmospheric CO2 levels. Combined with numerical simulation results and the oilfield development experience at home and abroad, it was proposed to inject CO2 in Sa I group. Based on the establishment of the fine geological model of Lamadian oilfield Beibei block, using eclipse software to do history matching of water flooding process in the entire block, the remaining oil saturation distribution was predicted after water flooding, and five development plans are compared. The results showed that 5-spot pattern with 212m well space and water alternating CO2 injection to the well can achieve the best economic benefits, and the highest recovery. 5-spot pattern with 212m well space and continuous CO2 injection to well have the close enhanced oil recovery rate with the water alternating CO2 injection, and it doesn’t need to inject water. It will not have a big impact on further application of new technologies. It causes relatively small formation damage. Therefore, it is more suitable for oilfield development.
