Large-scale grid-connected photovoltaic power station's capacity limit analysis under chance-constraints

Photovoltaic (PV) generation system is an intermittent power source in traditional power grid. With its capacity expanding, PV power station (PS) affects the power grid more and more obviously. In this paper, stochastic chance-constrained programming of large-scale (LS) grid-connected (GC) PVPS's capacity limit is studied in detail. The problem is represented as a planning model which maximizes total capacity of PV generation systems in power grid under chance-constraints of power grid security indicators' qualified rates. Solar irradiance is modeled as a stochastic time-series, and several PV system forms' models are introduced into the planning model, so that impacts of solar irradiance characteristics and PV system forms are considered. The planning model could directly obtain PV generation systems capacity limit in MWp. In IEEE 30-bus power system, the proposed method is verified and influences are analyzed. The method has preferable accuracy. Under the same power grid conditions and the same solar irradiance conditions, tracking GCPVPS's capacity limit usually less than fixed GCPVPS's, and criterions of power grid indicators' qualified rates constrain the GCPVPS's capacity limit.
