Artificial tapered damping near the outer computation boundary in FDTD and FDTD/FVTD hybrid

The artificial damping is our numerical equivalence of lining the chamber wall with lossy materials so that wave incident on the chamber wall will be absorbed instead of reflected back. Our numerical absorber is both electrically and magnetically lossy. The implementation is extremely simple. Numerical results show that this new damping technique can substitute the current radiation boundary condition (RBC) simulations such as the Mur (1981) RBC or the Liao (1984) RBC.
