Issues and challenges of propagation studies for mobile networks

Propagation measurements and models are not only important for the proper design of mobile networks, hut also for the simulation of communications systems. The state-of-art is reviewed for path loss results in outdoor and indoor environments, including penetration issues. The physical understanding of the phenomena is stressed. Similarly, wideband issues are discussed, as well as adaptive arrays, which indicate some new areas of propagation research.
