OPTIC: a user-orientated optimisation package for IC design

The design philosophy of the OPTIC (OPTimisation for IC design) system is to start with the potential user's requirements. The starting point for investigation therefore is to develop a generalised characterisation of the IC optimisation problem. A characterisation of the IC optimisation problem is useful in helping to describe the scope of the optimisation system. It also helps to define terms in which the IC designer can specify problems to be solved by the system.<
