A communication switch based on parallel processing

Telecommunication switches have been implemented based mainly on centralized and distributed control. Centralized control is relatively easy to implement but suffers from limitations on real-time capability. Distributed control involves much higher software complexity and intensive messaging. This paper proposes the parallel processing approach to simplify these problems. A system is under development to test these ideas.
