A novel design in dynamic individual particles scattering measurement based on sheath flow technology

Dynamic individual particles scattering measurement is an advanced method in particles scattering detection, which is based on sheath flow technology. A set of experimental instrument is developed here for rapid size analysis of single particles. There are four parts in this design that are optical, hydraulic, circuit and software sections. In optical part, an ellipse laser spot is formed and illuminates flow cell where sheath flow wraps cells passing through the measurement zone one by one. The flow cell shape is under the consideration of ellipse spot forming, which can equivalent to an optical system. Its optical characters are analyzed, and then the optical part is devised to form an illuminating spot with size of 300×50 micron. Another novel segment is the aperture design, which can be used for different angles scattering measurements. Amplifying circuit is devised for the weak right angle scatter signals detection. The measurement results are given which can prove the reliability of this instrument in dynamic individual particles scattering measurement based on sheath flow technology.
