Microtechnology and microscale fuel processing

AN URGENT DEMAND TO REINvent energy economy and to stop global warming has led to an increasing interest in alternative energy sources. Hydrogen fuel is one of these alternatives. As hydrogen fuel cells receive more attention, one of its promising applications is in portable power devices [1]. In particular, when the weight and volume of the power source are critical, miniaturized portable fuel cells are preferable. These fuel cells require a higher energy density to have a longer operation time and less frequent recharge for broader applications.
