Investigating the installed real power transfer capability of a large scale power system under a proposed multiarea interchange schedule using CPFLOW

This paper studies the real power transfer capability, under multiarea interchange schedules, of large scale power systems. An improved version of the simulation tool CPFLOW computes a series of operating points of the power system under a proposed multiarea interchange schedule. The steady-state feasibility of the computed points is based on typical power system operating criteria. CPFLOW traces the curves of solutions via an efficient and robust continuation algorithm. The case study involves eight participating areas in a thirty area power system with 3493 buses. Additionally, the new generator modelling capabilities of CPFLOW are presented.
