Issues in design of symbiotic DSS

The author describes the design of a system for a business planning problem. A knowledge representation (KR) scheme is used to represent the user's image of the problem, and the procedures available-both user-directed processes (UDP) and computer-directed processes (CDP)-and in designing the logic of the CDPM. The CDPM uses a plan generator to generate several different types of plans. The history inference processor makes inferences about the user, the problem characteristics, and the process of working on the problem. The evaluation of the plans is based on criteria which consider these inferences and on other factors.<
