Finite element and tight-binding calculations of nonlinear optical properties in wavefunction-engineered quantum heterostructures

Computational tools now permit wavefunction engineering of semiconductor heterostructures with complex geometries. Results based on control over band-mixing and spatial distribution of carriers-dispersion relations, optical matrix elements, nonlinear optical coefficients and lifetimes-are presented.
