Nonlinear design of active suspensions

We propose a new nonlinear backstepping design for active suspension systems which aims to improve the tradeoff between ride quality and suspension travel. We show that the intentional introduction of nonlinearity through the controller into an otherwise linear system can be beneficial in cases where the desired closed-loop response is different in different operating regions.
