The experimental validation of robust control models for a heat experiment: a linear matrix inequality approach

Theoretical developments in time domain, sampled-data, model validation are applied to a radiant heat experiment. The time domain model validation problem applied here considers a continuous time robust control model, including unknown perturbations and signals, using a discrete datum of finite length. The sampled-data time domain model validation problem can be formulated as a linear matrix inequality problem. A computationally tractable algorithm, employing data decimation, is presented in the paper. The application to the experiment illustrates that useful engineering information can be obtained.
