The Effect of Phase Conjugation Fidelity on Stimulated Brillouin Scattering Threshold

We present the effect of phase conjugation fidelity on stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) threshold in a multimode optical fiber. As fiber lengths decrease and phase conjugation fidelity increases, SBS threshold is observed to increase at a slower rate than that predicted by equations derived for single-mode fibers with an inverse dependence on fiber length. The deviation in threshold from standard models is shown to have a direct relationship to the phase conjugation fidelity.
