Design and Implementation of Common Map Symbol System in GIS

Map symbol has important effect in the process of GIS graphics. This paper introduce a GIS common symbol library, which is designed and implemented based on MapObjects' interface, include point symbol, line symbol and fill symbol and further illustration on how to save symbol in commercial database. At last, a case that using this symbol library is shown. This is a result tested in Zhejiang province in the Chinese numerical marine project and it achieves a good result.
