Circuit models for linear and nonlinear waves

Physical fields supporting wave propagation and/or diffusion are conveniently described by partial differential equations. The latter can be solved numerically by various discretization schemes. Some of these describe the performance of lumped networks imbedding some or all of the properties of the field that reflect in those of the algorithm. Moreover, the approximating lumped networks are locally connected, thus representing cellular neural networks that can be considered as analog processors describing the field features. The concepts above are illustrated with the example of the continuity equation and are applied to the analysis of hydrokinetic problems.<
