Cellular Digital Packet Data CDPD

Cellular Digital Packet Data (CDPD) is a technology that provides digital packet-switched data services through standard analog cellular channels. CDPD is implemented as an overlay to existing cellular networks allowing data to be sent in packets during idle times on the cellular voice channels. This overlay implementation makes use of existing cellular infrastructure, simultaneously transmitting voice and data from the same device.
