Low divergence semiconductor lasers by plasmonic collimation

This study has demonstrated that surface plasmons can be effectively employed for beam shaping of edge-emitting semiconductor lasers. This technique has greatly reduced their large intrinsic beam divergence by more than one order of magnitude, while preserving a high output power.
