Image aquisition using fixed and variable triangulation

We describe and demonstrate two sensors which produce registered depth and intensity data for scene description and model based image interpretation. The first sensor is a variation of the well established principle of laser triangulation. The second sensor employs planar elliptical mirrors in a novel design to allow dynamic reconfiguration of the triangulation geometry. The operation of each sensor is illustrated by experimental data.<
