User-Configurable Personalized Mosaic Electronic Program Guide

An electronic program guide is an on-screen guide to broadcast television programs, allowing a viewer to discover contents. By navigating through an EPG on a receiving device, a viewer can see more information about the programs. Moreover, more advanced and user-friendly EPG, mosaic EPG, emerged. It displays split screens simultaneously showing a variety of live broadcast programs and enables a viewer to easily select his preferred program among those programs. But this mosaic EPG screen is predetermined by broadcast providers. And a viewer cannot configure a personalized mosaic EPG screen according to his interests. This paper proposes user-configurable mosaic EPG on the viewer's set-top box without the help of broadcast providers.
