The Multimedia Engine MME - a Flexible Middleware for Automotive Infotainment Systems

This paper presents a software middleware to meet the requirements of automotive infotainment systems for a flexible and modular media solution. It allows the adaptation of multimedia use cases and applications from the consumer and PC area into an automotive environment. Due to an optimized filter graph architecture, the multimedia engine allows the implementation of complex user scenarios on cost-driven embedded infotainment systems. A rip-and-play example illustrates, how filter graphs are scaled to get a more comprehensive user experience.
