Magnetic Properties of Nd(Fe-M)12 Compounds

Mo-substituted Nd(Fe-Mo)
12
N
x
compounds were investigated. The ThMn
12
crystal structure was obtained for an RFe
11
Mo composition by optimizing the solution treatment temperature. NdFe
11
Mo shows a high saturation magnetization and Curie temperature, and has a higher anisotropy field than NdFe
11
TiN
x
. The NdFe
11
MoN
x
magnet produced by mechanical alloying had a (BH)
max
of 64 kJ/m
³
(8 MGOe). Recent theoretical approaches to YFe
11
TiN compounds are reviewed.
