Axial Magnetic-Field Effects on an Argon Arc Between Pin and Plate Electrodes at Atmospheric Pressure

The heat transfer and plasma flow inside an argon arc exposed in an axial magnetic field (AMF) at atmospheric pressure are simulated with an axisymmetric-swirl model. The numerical results show that the AMF induces most of the plasma flowing by the arc mantel, and as a result, the AMF arc presents a hollow bell shape.
