Slow light in nonlinear fibre Bragg gratings

We observe slow gap solitons of width 0.68 ns propagating through a fibre Bragg grating, with a group velocity of ~c/6. Nonlinearity maintains the pulses' temporal width, which would otherwise undergo dispersive broadening.
