Foreword to the Special Section on Granular Computing

The papers in this special section focus on granular computing, defined by Lotfi A. Zadeh as "information granulation involves partitioning a class of objects (points) into granules, with a granule being a clump of objects (points) which are drawn together by indistinguishability, similarity, or functionality."
