Extended Tree-Based Routing Algorithm in IPv6-enabled Wireless Sensor Networks

Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) become more and more important in various application areas. Many application scenarios require connectivity between WSNs and the Internet. Though WSN is typically not IP-enabled, connection to the IP network makes it easy to monitor sensors everywhere in the world. In this paper, we define IPv6-enabled WSNs as convergence of WSNs and IPv6 and propose an extended tree- based routing algorithm (ETRA) for IPv6-enabled WSNs. It improves the existing hierarchical routing method's inefficient routes. The ETRA's performance is evaluated using an example.
