T2 A/D converters for wireless communication in nanometer CMOS

The economic incentive is strong in pursuing single-chip, CMOS integration of wireless communication transceivers. Spearheaded by the proliferation of digital processing techniques, the mainstream CMOS technology has recently evolved into the nanometer regime. Albeit the majority of digital circuits benefits from small device dimensions and low supply voltages, the design of high dynamic-range A/D interface circuits for wireless applications has become increasingly difficult in scaled technologies. In this tutorial, fundamentals of A/D converters for wireless communication are reviewed, followed by a presentation on challenges and techniques of the design of these converters in nanometer CMOS.
