A finite element-finite difference computation of magnetic and turbulent flow coupled problem

A finite element-finite difference coupled method is used for the computation of the parameters of a turbulent flow of conducting liquid in a 2-D or axisymmetrical field. A finite-element accurate computation of the sigma V*B currents has been tested. The velocity and pressure fields are predicted with a k- epsilon effective viscosity model solved by a finite-difference method based on a three-grid meshing and conditional upwind differencing scheme. The effect of the sigma V*B currents on the body forces and the velocity field is evaluated in the case of the rotational electromagnetic stirring of square billets.<>
