A wonderful three years ...

Three years ago the author years ago was honored to take over the responsibility of Editor-In-Chief (EiC) of IEEE Transactions on Multimedia. That was at a time that the Transactions, after seven years into running and under the leadership of three EiCs, had begun to emerge as a primary venue for multimedia professionals to publish high quality research works. Quickly and quietly, three years passed; the Transactions has established itself as the high impact forum of archival value in the multimedia community and in IEEE, in particular, with improved quality, increased readership and submissions, and expanded impact. The Transactions has indeed become the top choice among researchers, professors, graduate students and practitioners to read and publish the state of the art and high impact works. After a brief review of the accomplishments over the last three years the outgoing EiC welcomes the new Editor-in-Chief, Sheila Hemami (Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Cornell University), whom he notes as a strong activist and seasoned researcher in our community.
