Three-area joint dispatch production costing

Joint dispatch, in which all the generating resources in an interconnected system are centrally dispatched, can result in significant production cost savings as compared with independent area dispatch. A three-area production simulation model is presented that evaluates the expected unit energy generation, the expected area unserved energy, and the expected poolwide and area production cost savings. Random-unit forced outages, unit joint ownership, and transmission interconnection constraints are considered in the model. The simulation results for a sample three-area system are presented.<
