Image Theory Analysis of Fields Due to a Step in the Current in a Long Line on the Surface of the Earth

Calculations of the electric fields on the surface of uniform, two-layer,. and three-layer earths due to a line source excitation on the surface using complex image methods are reviewed. It is demonstrated that the analytical results can be readily interpreted using conventional plane wave reflection theory.
