Microwave Connector Analysis Using Time Domain Circuit Modeling

Recently a new microwave coaxial connector has been announced on the market. It is designed to operate over a 50 GHz bandwidth mode free. The interface and connector requirements were developed by Hewlett Packard because of a need for such a device on their newly developed test equipment. M/A-Com Omni Spectra and others have set to the task of making several grades of connectors, adapters and components. This paper will discuss some of the optimizations involved with the production grade cable connector to .086 diameter semirigid cable. The work presented is on the compensation improvements made to female contacts in the fingers area.
