An analogue current-mode signal processing ASIC for interrogating resistive sensor arrays

An Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) for interrogating resistive sensor arrays has been developed as part of an electronic nose. The ASIC, fabricated in a commercial 2/spl mu/ BiCMOS process, employs current-mode techniques to measure absolute and changes in resistance. Two fundamental cells from the ASIC, a current-multiplexer and a current-amplifier, are discussed. Communication with the ASIC is via the I/sup 2/C bus.<>
