The future information infrastructure and its implications for satellite communications

The authors examine the fundamental homomorphic dualism that relates the emerging National Information infrastructure and the incipient Defense Global Grid. Satellite communications will be an important element of the transmission fabric upon which these future hybrid network architectures will be based. Considerations for the role of SATCOM within the framework of hybrid networks providing ubiquitous multimedia services are presented.<
