A Note on Rotation Matrices

A description is given of three-by-three orthogonal matrices, what they do geometrically, and how to obtain directly a matrix having prescribed geometric properties. The arguments leading to the formulas are included for completeness, but the goals are the statements that connect these formulas with the geometry.
