Highly Dispersive Micro-Ring Resonator Based on 1D Photonic Crystal - Design and Analysis

In this paper, we propose a novel structure that enables to increase the Q factor significantly given the same micro-ring resonator (MRR) radius and same material properties. It is identical to the standard MRR with the addition of a series of periodic defects that are introduced into the MRR. The added defects provide an additional degree of freedom and allow controlling the dispersion properties of the MRR
