Damping of rotor oscillation for stepping motors using fuzzy reasoning

Stepping motors are used as the driver for positioning in control systems. It is well-known that the transient response of stepping motors is generally oscillatory in the case of open-loop control. The rotor oscillation must be suppressed in quick positioning applications. In this paper, the suppression control of the rotor oscillation of VR (variable reluctance)-type stepping motors is studied. The suppression control is achieved by the inverse-phase excitation damping using fuzzy reasoning. The availability of the proposed control is shown by numerical simulations and experiments.<
