Noah: an environment for distributed autonomous systems

Noah (network oriented applications harmony) is a software platform to develop distributed systems that are flexible and reusable. Noah provides a flexible mechanism of communication by masking distribution aspects and synchronization between application modules. Noah has a "field" concept to manage not only communication but also cooperation among application modules. The paper describes Noah's basic concepts, architecture design, implementation, and application to office automation systems. The paper also presents Noah's integration mechanism for legacy applications.<
