Robustness of digital current regulation according to digital saturation problems

In this paper, the influence of digital saturation in fast current control for electrical machine is described. We show the effect of classical saturation in the closed loop according to the speed of the current regulation (second order and dead beat response). First, we offer an alternative implementation method, called internal saturation, which gives better results. Next, to avoid completely the digital saturation, we present two cases: the reduction of dynamics and adjustment of controller parameters. Finally, we describe a method, called limit saturation, which gives a controller algorithm for maximum dynamics (in terms of peak-to-peak magnitude) of the output without saturation. For this method, different solutions for the digital implementation algorithm are presented.<
