Use of graphical simulation tools in the design of electric drive systems

Simulation has always been an integral part of engineering design. The advent of graphical tools has led to new applications in the design of electric drive systems. This paper presents a hierarchical approach to modeling. Examples are presented illustrating application to system modeling, circuit design and software emulation. By using the same simulation platform for each of these tasks, highly-integrated models can be made, giving greater insight in subsystem performance and interaction.<
