Environmental impacts of electricity generation: a global perspective

Efforts are now underway in the industrialized countries to significantly reduce the emission of greenhouse and acid rain gases from power plants. However, indications are that rapid growth in the developing countries is quickly replacing what is being eliminated. This paper provides data and projections on these emissions from electricity generation in selected countries around the world, makes some comparisons and suggests possible options.<
