Bi-polar planar near-field measurements with and without probe co-rotation: An experimental verification

Planar near-field measurements in polar coordinates generally require probe corotation to perform probe correction. In the present work, it has been experimentally verified that the vector probe response can be found from measurements using arbitrary, orthogonal orientations of the probe and, furthermore, that this vector response can be used to predict the far-field pattern accurately. This procedure requires that the probe's far-field pattern exhibit simple, first-order azimuthal dependence. The physical corotation of the probe becomes mandatory for larger probes which do not fulfill this requirement.<
