Iron core loss effects in indirect rotor flux oriented induction machines

Existence of core losses in induction machines is almost without exception neglected in all the theoretical analyses and practical implementation of field oriented control. The paper attempts to provide an insight into consequences of this simplifying assumption on performance of the drive. Indirect rotor flux oriented current fed induction machine is elaborated. It is shown that omission of core loss representation in the control system inevitably leads to detuned operation of the drive. Although the amount of detuning is small for purely sinusoidal voltage operation, it may become significant when the machine is fed with PWM voltages.<
