Criteria for selection of infrared camera system

Infrared (IR) thermography has been proven to be a reliable technique for thermal diagnosis by many industries. IR cameras generate a thermal profile of an object and any abnormal heat pattern is recognized precisely. Image processing techniques allow subsequent manipulations. There are several manufacturers of camera systems with relative merits and demerits in their products. It is not straightforward to make conclusions about the superiority of any system. Moreover, with most of the users being from nonphotonic industries, technical jargon complicates the selection criteria. This paper is aimed at clarifying the specifications of an IR imaging system.<
